Best headsets for Microsoft Teams: man working on computer and wearing Leitner wireless headset

Microsoft Teams can be a great addition to almost any workplace. It allows for easy audio and video calling, document sharing, and chats. However, if you plan on using a headset with this application, you want to be sure that you pick out a device that allows you to use all of the functionality available.

Some headsets will allow you to speak and receive audio, but they can’t fully integrate with the Teams system. That means that certain features like answering and ending calls remotely won’t be available. In this article, we will walk you through 5 different Microsoft Teams headset models that will give you full capabilities when you’re using the app.

Our Microsoft Teams headset recommendations

Leitner LH470 DECT Headset

Leitner LH470 Single-Ear Wireless DECT Dongle Best Teams Headset

Specs:

  • Price: $239.00

  • Range: up to 350 feet

  • Battery life: up to 8 hours of talk time per charge

  • Warranty period: 5 years

Why we think you’ll love it

  • Great features: This Microsoft Teams headset has volume controls and an on/off button on the headset. The earpiece also has a built-in busy light, known as the FocusLight. This light lets people around you know when you need to focus, but most headsets require an added accessory to have this capability.

  • Computer-only: This headset is designed to only work with the computer. Choose this headset if you know you don't want use it with the phone, that way you are only paying for the headset you need. The DECT dongle will make sure it is still wireless with up to 350 feet of range!

  • Super easy setup:  This headset is as plug-and-play as you can get! Just plug the dongle into the USB port on your computer, and in most cases you can start talking to your callers or simply listen to music.

Why you might prefer a different model

  • You’re looking for a Microsoft Teams headset that can also work with your desk phone:

The Leitner LH470 and LH475 will be a computer-only headset. If you need to use this with your phone as well as a computer, we recommend the Leitner LH570, which you can also see below.

  • You have 10 hour plus days: This headset will last up to 8 hours of talk time, but if you have longer days or need the headset to work multiple shifts, you may want to find one that has just a little more juice to get you through the day.

Jabra Evolve2 40

Jabra Evolve2 40 UC Dual-Ear USB Best Teams Headset

Specs:

  • Price: $138.95

  • Range: up to 5 feet

  • Battery life: not applicable

  • Warranty period: 2 years

Why we think you’ll love it

  • Isolated listening experience: A dual-ear stereo headset model inherently blocks out more sound than its single-ear counterparts. With the Evolve2 40 specifically, distracting background noise doesn’t need to be a concern. The foam ear cushions are molded to cup your ears perfectly to prevent background noises from reaching you. Give your full attention to your Teams calls and not worry about outside interruptions.

  • Multi-functionality: If you like to use your headset for more than just calls, this is a great option. The high sound quality carries over from calls to other streaming media. Watch videos, listen to music, and stream podcasts with the same high-quality audio that you’re getting every time you make a call.

  • Proven quality: In 2020, this headset received the Excellence Award from TMCnet.com. The award is given out to high-quality teleworking products that are proven to streamline the workday. Not only do customers say it's the best headset for Teams; the experts do too.

Why you might prefer a different model

  • You prefer more mobility:

Since this model is corded, you won’t have the same amount of freedom to move throughout the day as you would with a wireless model. The cord is 5 feet, so you can comfortably navigate your desk space. However, you won’t have the ability to get up and walk around the office like you would with some of the other devices on this list.

  • You also plan on connecting to a desk phone: If you aren’t exclusively using Microsoft Teams throughout the day, and you’d like your corded desk phone to work with your headset as well, this won’t be the device for you. It’s only got a USB connector cable, so it’s just compatible with your computer.

Leitner LH380

Leitner® LH380 On-the-Ear Wireless Best Teams Headset

Specs:

  • Price: $259.00

  • Range: up to 350 feet

  • Battery life: up to 8 hours of talk time per charge

  • Warranty period: 5 years

Why we think you’ll love it

  • Secure fit: Some on-the-ear headsets don’t stay on quite right. If the ear tip isn’t the perfect fit, you’ll have trouble staying fully connected to your calls. Luckily, the LH380 comes with 3 different sizes of interchangeable ear tips. You won’t have to worry about discomfort caused by an ear tip that is either too small or too big.

  • Bluetooth functionality: Because this device is equipped with Bluetooth, you can hook it up to a variety of devices. Whether you’re using Teams on your tablet, smartphone, or computer, you’ll be all set. With more device compatibility comes more productivity and mobility for your workday.

  • Special technologies: There are 2 standout technologies incorporated into this device. The first one is CleanSound. This filters out your caller’s background noise and allows you to hear what they’re saying clearly. You’ll never have to worry about staticky sounds or excess background hubbub interrupting your calls. The next technology is UniBase. It allows for easy and effective call merging between different devices that your headset is connected to. It streamlines the conference calling process and makes your workday easier.

Why you might prefer a different model

  • You don’t need Bluetooth: If you’re planning on connecting your Microsoft Teams headset exclusively to your computer, you don’t need to splurge on one with Bluetooth functionality. Considering this feature ups the price by a fair amount, it’s an extra expense that’s unnecessary for someone who doesn’t plan on connecting to their cell phone and/or tablet.

  • Earbuds tend to cause you discomfort after prolonged wear: Even though the interchangeable ear tips ensure pretty consistent comfort for users, some people just aren’t comfortable with an on-the-ear model. If you find that long hours of wear with your everyday earbuds result in soreness in your ears, opt for an over-the-head model, such as the Leitner LH270, instead.

Leitner LH275

Leitner® LH275 Dual-Ear Wireless Best Teams Headset

Specs:

  • Price: $279.00

  • Range: up to 350 feet

  • Battery life: up to 8 hours of talk time per charge

  • Warranty period: 5 years

Why we think you’ll love it

  • Comfort: When it comes to comfortable over-the-head Teams headsets, the LH275 is a frontrunner. It covers both ears, which makes for a balanced listening experience for the user. The ear cushions are ultra-soft and will sit lightly on your ears all day. Mold the headset to the exact shape of your head with the UltraFlex technology for maximum comfort.

  • Call security: Thanks to enhanced DECT level A technology, you can rest assured that everything that takes place on your calls stays on your calls. If you work in a doctor’s office, for instance, confidential patient data will stay secure. If you’re looking for a device that ensures your privacy, this is a great option.

  • Special technologies: See the above list item. This Leitner device comes equipped with the same advanced features as the LH380 (described above). With super clear sound and top-notch conferencing abilities, you're sure to have maximum productivity when using this Teams headset.

Why you might prefer a different model

  • You rely on workplace collaboration: If conversations with coworkers are a regular part of your day, a dual-ear model might not be the best bet. Instead, consider keeping an ear free by opting for a single-ear model.

  • You need Bluetooth capabilities: If you want to be able to use your Teams headset with a smartphone or tablet, get a device that can connect via Bluetooth. If everything else about the LH275 sounds right, but you want this added capability, check out the Leitner LH375. It’s got all the same features plus this extra type of connectivity.

Sennheiser OfficeRunner

OfficeRunner® Wireless Best Teams Headset

Specs:

  • Price: $389.95

  • Range: up to 400 feet

  • Battery life: up to 12 hours of talk time per charge

  • Warranty period: 3 years

Why we think you’ll love it

  • Convertible wearing style: If you are unsure whether an over-the-head or on-the-ear model is right for you, look no further. The OfficeRunner can easily transition between both wearing styles. Simply pop off the mic from the first earpiece and snap it onto the other. It’s quick, intuitive, and makes for an extra versatile headset.

  • Multi-device pairing: With the Sennheiser OfficeRunner, up to 4 headsets can be paired to 1 base. This is great to have for in-office training, or if multiple people in an office need to hop on the same call. Rather than individually dialing in, they can all connect to one phone.

  • Hearing production: Much like the Jabra Teams headsets mentioned above, this Sennheiser model uses its own ActiveGard technology to ensure that your ears stay happy, healthy, and protected from harmful increases in volume.

Why you might prefer a different model

  • You’re set on one wearing style: Because this model essentially gives you 2 different headsets, it comes at a higher price point. If you don’t feel the need to switch between wearing styles throughout the day, opt for a headset that isn’t convertible. It’ll fit your needs and save you money.

Leitner LH570

Leitner® LH570 Premium Plus Dual-Ear Wireless Best Teams Headset with Bluetooth

Specs:

  • Price: $319.00

  • Range: up to 350 feet

  • Battery life: up to 8 hours of talk time per charge

  • Warranty period: 5 years

Why we think you’ll love it

  • Special technologies: The Leitner LH570 comes with an integrated FocusLight activity indicator, which will light up when you are on a call, stopping unwanted interruptions in your workflow! Also has automatic pairing, UniBase call merging technology, ultra noise-canceling microphone, and CleanSound technology in the speakers.

  • Comfort: Just like the LH275, this over-the-head headset has an UltraFlex headband, which can mold to the shape of your head and stay that way. It has soft leatherette ear cushions as well, making it entirely possible to forget you're wearing it.

  • Call security: Leitner doesn't skimp on the call security with our DECT Level A wireless connection. Get the long range and keep your calls between you and the person on the other end of the line.

Why you might prefer a different model

  • You don't want people knowing when you are on the phone: If you want to sneak away and call someone discretely, the FocusLight will give you away, as it will light up blue when the headset is being used, either with programs like Teams or with a desk phone.

  • You need Bluetooth capabilities: This Teams headset will connect to computers and desk phones and is wireless, but it will not be able to connect to a cell phone or other Bluetooth device. Never fear, you can have the same wearing style and Bluetooth with the LH370.

  • You need a dual-ear headset: While the single-ear format works for a lot of people, it may not work for you. However, you can get the same great headset, but with both ears covered, with the Leitner LH575!
